So this happened!! My beautiful daughter, Aspyn and her boyfriend/now fiancé, Parker got engaged in gorgeous Santorini, Greece! It was the perfect setting for such a wonderful and special moment. Greece will always have such a happy place in my heart and this exciting occasion just solidified that even more so! Of course this post is about Greece and all the beauty that this country is, but it is also about my feelings and emotions of having my oldest daughter become engaged and how that changes something in me and my life as a mother.
This trip, as I said previously, was truly nothing short of a dream. I was so grateful to be a part of this journey and see such incredible sites of the world, but I also secretly went into this adventure knowing that Parker was planning to ask Aspyn to be his wife. Parker had spoken to me before we embarked on our trip, and asked myself and Aspyn’s dad for our blessing to propose to Aspyn. I was so touched by how important this was to him and how much he loves Aspyn. He wanted everything to be perfect and to ask her in beautiful Santorini. This was such a lovely moment to be a part of and it truly made me pause and reflect on my feelings as a mother and all my feelings of Aspyn getting married.
Aspy is my first born, my oldest daughter and one of the people in my life who have taught me the very most about myself. I was of course inexperienced when I had her, and there were plenty of times as the firstborn that I was figuring out the art of being a perfect mother during her childhood. She has always been a very unique, strong willed, and beautiful soul. I knew from the moment she was born that she was going to give me a run for my money and be something special! She was such a fun, full of life little girl and had a sassy spirit to go along with that. Watching her grow and seeing now the woman she has become, is absolutely more than I could ever ask for as a mother. Each of my children (I have four) make me so proud every single day and when one of them has a life changing moment I cannot help but be so full of gratitude in every ounce of my being.
And so the time comes that my little girl is getting married to the boy of her dreams. Aspyn has had a lot of life experience at a very young age and has always been an extremely smart and determined person. I know that whatever choices she makes in her life she does it 110% and with her whole heart. She is going to be an amazing wife and everything that that entails. In her young life she has and continues to accomplish so much and work extremely hard for what she believes in. I know she will do nothing short of this in her new chapter as a wife. I have an enormous amount of gratitude for Parker and the support system he is in my daughters life. He is everything I could ask for in a son in law and I know that not only is Aspyn blessed but I am as well to know that this man will take such incredible care of my daughter. As a parent you don’t get the choice of who your child falls in love with and I am so thankful every day that Aspyn found an amazing guy!
We are busily making wedding plans and are excited for the big day! It’s fun to see it all come together and to learn new things as we go. It can also be a little bit stressful but it is all worth it! It is bittersweet to see Aspy journey into this new phase of her life and I know that she has so many joyous things to look forward too. We have so much to be thankful for as life changes and new doors open and we head down different avenues. It is so rewarding to see your children grow and thrive and know that all the blood, sweat and tears you put in as a parent have come to fruition. Aspyn always makes me so proud and I admire her strength, courage and determination in life. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful occasion to look ahead to with the wedding and what a beautiful day it will be. I will be posting more soon about the wedding and plans as we get organized with all the details! Until then, here are a few more lovely photos of incredible Greece and I look forward to exciting new posts on fashion, beauty, nurturing our soles, and so much more now that my travel blogs are finished up!
